The beginning of a British comedy tradition, 1958 marked the birth of Carry On, a classic genre of British parody, double entendre and slapstick unto itself.

 

Drill Instructor Sergeant Grimshaw is nearing that time in his career when things should be slowing down, getting easier. Facing retirement, he is determined to lead the Star Squad of recruits and give them a right good drilling before he hangs up his boots.

But with soldiers consisting of a hypochondriac, a girl-mad private and a rock'n'roll singer, things aren't really quite as simple and straight forward as one would expect.

With the day drawing near, Grimshaw resigns himself to the inevitable farce....
