Synopsis
This first-ever live-action Tintin film was famously set in Istanbul, Turkey, and is considered by many tintinologists to be one of the best Tintin films ever produced. Memorably played by Jean-Pierre Talbot, Tintin teams up with his dog Snowy to help their friend Captain Haddock (Charles Wilson) travel to Istanbul to collect an inheritance, a ship called the Golden Fleece. An old rust-bucket, the ships seemingly worthless cargo draws the attention of a devious businessman, forcing our heroes to sail to Greece to escape his evil clutches.
The comedy is driven by Captain Haddock, dotty Professor Calculus and the hapless Thompson Twins, all uncanny lookalikes of the originals. Like Tintin, these characters appear to have walked off the pages of the classic Hergé comic. Combining stunning cinematography in exotic locales with excellent action sequences, The Mystery of the Golden Fleece is a must-see for Tintin fans.
