Synopsis
The Road To Fame...
Jackie Mullens (Jo Kennedy) is a reluctant barmaid in her familys struggling Sydney pub. She wants to be a singing star and her 14-year old oddball cousin Angus (Ross ODonovan) has a crazy showbiz idea that might just make it happen for her.
Manipulating the media, Angus pulls off a brazen publicity stunt that instantly turns Jackie into the celebrity of the day, bringing her to the attention of pop music guru Terry Lambert (John OMay).
Now all Jackie needs to do is appear on the Oz TV rock show "Wow", make sure that her band, The Wombats, are selected to compete in the New Years Eve rock concert at the Sydney Opera house, win the $25,000 prize and save the family pub from bankruptcy.
Directed by Gillian Armstrong ("My Brilliant Career", "Charlotte Gray") and featuring the hit single "Body and Soul" along with original music by The Swingers and Mental As Anything, "STARSTRUCK" is an intoxicating, foot-tapping, infectiously upbeat new wave musical comedy.
