Synopsis
Along with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff was one of the driving forces behind the explosive emergence of reggae music in the 1970s, and by the age of 20 scored a #6 UK pop chart hit with "Wonderful World, Beautiful People". The reggae music pioneer soon became its leading man following Cliff's starring role in The Harder They Come, the legendary 'rebel-reggae' film for which he also wrote the seminal soundtrack. Filmed in 1996, this rare documentary captures Cliff in the streets of Jamaica where his musical odyssey began. The singer/actor/revolutionary offers a deeply personal look at his life and career, from the country roads of his childhood to the Kingston back lanes where his dream to perform was realised. Discussing his musical vision, his embrace of Islam and traditional African culture, Cliff also performs a selection of his immortal songs including "The Harder They Come," "Crime," "Many Rivers to Cross," "Bob You Did Your Job," and "You Can Get It If You Really Want.
