Comic genius Richard Pryor (Stir Crazy, Brewster’s Millions) wrote, produced and starred in this hilarious comedy from the heyday of his career. A bungling burglar and gifted mechanic, the mercurial Joe Braxton (Pryor) again breaches parole, and is sent by his parole officer (Robert Christian) to aid the prudish Vivien Perry (Cicely Tyson, Roots), the director of a school for disturbed children about to close for lack of money. Forced to drive the wild kids to Philadelphia, it's mayhem and madness as Pryor endures child harassment, constant bus breakdowns and a hilarious encounter with the Ku Klux Klan. Initial hostility between he and the prim Tyson later turns to unlikely romance, and Pryor thinks twice about ‘bustin’ loose’.
