Synopsis
Viewers who enjoy Ben Eltons black humour will laugh so hard that the only way to stop is to leave the room.
Sydney Morning Herald
As the world draws closer to a Total Toxic Eco-Bummer, can the fate of civilization as we know it, really be in the grubby hands of a stray pom?
Acclaimed author and funnyman Ben Elton (Black Adder, The Young Ones) stars in his own adaptation of his best selling novel, STARK.
In the heart of the Australian desert, a planet-sized plot is taking shape. A plan to kill off the Earth and save the elite. A plot so carefully planned and orchestrated surely no one can stop it now?
Enter CD (Ben Elton), a prize pommie prat who doesnt care about the world but does care about getting laid. Smitten by a virginal rebel-looking-for-a-cause (Jacqueline McKenzie), he foolishly follows her on a mission impossible to purge the planet of polluters.
Along for the ride are financial tycoon Sly Morgan (Colin Friels), Wall Street journalist Chrissie Keating (Deborra Lee-Furness) and a couple of brain-fried Vietnam vets (Derrick OConnor and Bill Wallis).
This ragtag band of misfits soon find themselves the only foil to arch villain DeQuincy (John Neville), the morally bankrupt head of the evil STARK conspiracy - a corporation which has gobbled up all the resources on Earth and now plans to head off into orbit to find further fertile pillaging grounds.
From the makers of MALCOLM and THE BIG STEAL comes this highly acclaimed and seriously funny apocalyptic eco-thriller.
Beautifully written and superbly played a special kind of comedy
Dennis Pryor, THE AGE.
