This award-winning BBC TV drama series about the growing numbers of citizens who resisted the Germans during World War II was created by Gerard Glaister (Colditz, Howard’s Way), a former RAF pilot, who based the series on real events.

As English planes were shot down in Belgium, many soldiers were aided back to safe countries such as Scandinavia, France or Spain by the courageous men and women who make up the Brussels-based Lifeline evasion network. These good souls include the employees of the popular Restaurant Candide, including owner Albert (Bernard Hepton – I Claudius, Colditz), his mistress Monique, and the young Natalie Chantrens, all of which help hide and evacuate stranded Allied fighters under the nose of the Third Reich's Luftwaffe Polizei.

This digitally remastered DVD release includes the all eleven hours of the second series, and a fascinating documentary – Resistance! – about the real life ‘Secret Army’ of resistance fighters and British agents who fought deep behind enemy lines.
