Synopsis
A perfect showcase for the wit and whimsy of comic genius Groucho Marx (1890-1977), this three-disc set collects a priceless archive of 18 complete and uncut You Bet Your Life episodes filmed between 1950 and 1960. Beginning on radio in 1947, You Bet Your Life was ostensibly a quiz show, but it mostly served as a forum for Groucho to ridicule the contestants. It soon became a hugely successful TV series, running for 423 episodes and assuring there would be life for Groucho after the Marx Brothers. Groucho's one-liners and snappy comebacks hilariously demonstrate Groucho’s mastery of humor honed over decades of live performance.
