Synopsis

While Johnny Cash won 11 Grammy Awards and recorded over 100 hits during a prolific career, he also starred in a series of classic films, bringing his brooding, impassioned persona to the silver screen.

This collection of classic Cash films, each of which he performs in and wrote the soundtrack, celebrates the country legend's career in on the big screen:

FIVE MINUTES TO LIVE (1961)

This classic crime-noir triller stars Cash (in his film debut) as a violent, guitar playing ex-con who hold the wife of a bank vice-president for ransom. Simmering sexual tensions soon develop as a demented Cash forces the wife to dress in a negligee while he sings the song "Five Minutes To Live" (written by Cash).

THE PRIDE OF JESSE HALLAM (1981)

The story of Jesse Hallam (Johnny Cash), a coal miner from the age of 14, who has recently been widowed and is facing change. A proud man, Jesse is forced to confront his illiteracy when he and his family move from their Kentucky farm to the big city in Ohio.
