A celebration of youth, friendship, and a lifelong love affair with the movies, Cinema Paradiso tells of a young boy, Salvatore, who becomes entranced by the magic of the “Cinema Paradiso” amidst the struggles of small town life in post-war Italy. Overjoyed when Alfredo, the cinema’s projectionist, agrees to reveal the mysteries of movie making to him, Salvatore embarks on a coming-of-age journey that sees him leave the town to himself become a filmmaker. But after 30 years, a message arrives that beckons him back home.....
