BP SUPERSHOW – THE AUSTRALIAN BALLET IN PERFORMANCE

Synopsis
In 1965 the newly formed Australian Ballet embarked on its first ever overseas tour, culminating in a series of well-received performances at the inaugural Commonwealth Arts Festival in London. Prior to this auspicious event GTV9 aired an exclusive presentation of highlights as part of their BP Supershow series, capturing a number of rousing performances from the famed Kathleen Gorham, Garth Welch, Bryan Lawrence, Karl Welander, Barry Kitcher, under the expert guidance of artistic directors Peggy Van Praag and Robert Helpmann.
The program includes pas de deux from: ‘Pas Classique’ (Bizet), ‘Giselle’ (Bergmeuller) as well as Robert Helpmann’s innovative Australian devised works ‘Display’ (Williamson) and ‘Yugen’ (Toyama).
