A scorching Aussie tale of sexual frustration and alienation in the outback, Boundaries of the Heart tells the story of Stella Marsden (AFI Award winner Wendy Hughes, Careful, He Might Hear You), a fading beauty who has all but let life and love pass her by.
Living in Olwyn's Boundary, an isolated township in Western Australia, Stella works for her father Billy (Norman Kaye), pulling beers at the local hotel. Escaping his own demons Billy, a once-famous cricketer, lives in the shadows of disgrace after a sex scandal ruined his reputation. Each year Stella's lone suitor Andy Ford (AFI Award winner John Hargreaves, Malcolm) comes to the hotel to ask Stella to marry him, but each year Stella waits for a better offer to come along. When out-of town salesman Arthur Pearson (Michael Siberry) is forced to stay at the hotel, something about him catches Stella's attention. Setting out to seduce him in a desperate attempt to reclaim the past, Stella unwittingly creates a devastating love triangle of unrequited passion.
