ANIMALS ARE BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
The Gods Must Be Crazy creator Jamie Uys spent four years shooting this wry look at animal behaviour, capturing dozens of remarkable, startling and funny scenes.
Filmed on location in the Namib Desert in southern Africa, it blends documentary footage, tongue-in-cheek but informative narration and classical music. Highlights include daredevil cart-wheeling baboons, the remarkable partnership of the badger and the honey-guide bird, animals intoxicated on fermented fruit, and footage of an ostrich mating dance that is strikingly reminiscent of Fantasia. Adding a human element is the film's account of the astonishingly intricate lengths to which the Kalahari bushmen go to find water.
